On May 5, 2008, CCPIT and the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province jointly held the promotion conference of the 2nd China-Latin America Business Summit for Latin American embassies. Nearly 50 representatives attended the conference, including CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei, Vice-Chairman Yu Ping, Heilongjiang vice Governor Sun Rao, delegates from the Heilongjiang government, ambassadors from embassies of Columbia, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru and Ecuador in China, representative from the Panama Business Representative Office in China and commercial counselors from various Latin American embassies. At the conference, Chairman Wan Jifei first reviewed the results gained from the 1st China-Latin America Business Summit held last year in Santiago, capital of Chile and officially released the news that the 2nd Summit will be held in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province on October 21 and 22 this year. Vice Governor Sun Rao gave a detailed introduction of the general development and advantageous industries of Heilongjiang. Vice-Chairman Yu Ping then stated the theme of this year’s summit and invited the diplomatic envoys present to advance valuable suggestions, emphasizing the two new features of this year’s summit that the summit is added a new section of introducing each participating nation and the summit offers each Latin American country a free publicity and display table. The envoys spoke highly of CCPIT’s enormous efforts made to promote the China-Latin America economic and trade relations and all pledged to give full support to the preparation and organization of the 2nd Summit. Ambassador of Chile and Commercial Chief of Venezuela respectively suggested that the matchmaking of specific projects and the assistance in helping the Latin American countries expand their business be strengthened on the basis of the successful mode of the 1st Summit. Representative from the Panama Business Representative Office in China specially appreciated that the 2nd Summit lists trade service as one of its main subjects. The guests present then attended the lunch banquet at CCPIT after the conference. |
