August 27, CCPIT Vice Chairman Dong Songgen attended the International Commercial Mediation Forum in Hebei province, which was co-sponsored by CCOIC Mediation Center, CIETAC, CCPIT Hebei Sub-council and Singapore International Mediation Center. Some 160 mediation experts coming from UK, Singapore, HK and the Chinese mainland have gathered at the forum. Before the opening, Dong Songgen and Hebei Deputy Governor Fu Shuangjian met with the experts from both home and abroad.

In his speech, Dong said that as a hotspot under worldwide attention, China is now facing a number of opportunities as well as challenges during economic development. Since disputes and misunderstandings go with businesses, the importance of proper settlement is becoming more and more manifest. To settle disputes through mediation is in line with the on-going slogan of “harmonious society and harmonious world”. As the most authorized commercial mediation institution, CCOIC Mediation Center has so far settled thousands of cases involving more than 50 countries and regions. CCOIC Mediation Center has therefore been playing an important role in accommodating customers, eliminating conflicts, and facilitating foreign investment in China.

At the forum, 15 experts have made presentations concerning such issues as features of mediation institutions, legal advisor and commercial mediation, courts and mediation institutions, and mediation procedures and skills. When the forum ended, Dong Songgen also attended the agreement signing ceremony of cooperation between CCOIC Mediation Center and Singapore International Mediation Center.
